Today I am glued to various weather reporting places because of Hurricane Isaac. Here is the current picture I’m looking at. I’m located where the pink X is.
OK sure it is a long ways from me and may not even get bad here but storms of this magnitude always bear watching just in case. I love a good thunderstorm but I’m not a big fan of tornados and crazy winds! Especially when I need to drive 45 minutes to get from work to home.
Working for an insurance office also keeps things like this right in front of us. Currently my county and city is not banned with my company for new policies but if the storm keeps coming west we may get shut down today or tomorrow. You wouldn’t believe how many people suddenly need home insurance during these things.
Our last big storm event in our area was back in February of 2008. We had hail the size of baseballs! In our small office alone we filed over 150 claims in 2 days. It was the most exhausting 2 days of my life.
So I’m praying that it will head north soon rather than coming more west and slow down on the rain. I’ve heard a couple of reports saying that it could do more damage in southern Louisiana than Katrina did because of how slow it’s moving. Twenty inches of rain is A LOT!
Lots of prayers going to all of those that are being effected RIGHT NOW by this and the people that will be effected over the next few days.

20 inches of rain is horrible! That's flooded homes, and flash floods, and large outdoor animals needing re-homing before they get mired in mud, and closed streets, and poisonous runoff and landslide and silting in of rivers. :(
Stay safe!!
Hope everybody your way stays dry and safe!
